About you

  • You really dig accounting and finance work. You've been working with numbers for a while for a while and you like it. Managing the detail and owning the numbers is what floats your boat.
  • You're talented and ambitious. You are still early on in your career, yet you have aspirations to make a name for yourself within a growing technology company, and to learn from an experienced CFO
  • You're most of the below. But not necessarily all of them. You like to learn and you pick up new things quickly.

The role

As the first Pendula Finance Assistant, you will help Pendula move from an outsourced bookkeeping function to managing all our accounting and finance internally. You will be responsible for the day to day accounts, with the added twist on needing to upskill yourself to be the resident expert on the administration of our billing system. In addition, you will own the payroll function, and will be the right hand person to the CFO in everything finance related.

We’re looking for a highly motivated and talented Finance Assistant to join our finance team: someone who wants to enjoy the benefits of working with a scaling tech company, being one of the pioneer members of the internal finance team, and who has an ambition to develop their skills and progress their career.

What you'll do

  • Manage the day to day accounts
  • Perform the Accounts Payable and the Accounts Receivable functions
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Process expense claim reimbursements
  • Upload payments to the bank account
  • Responsible for the monthly payroll
  • Prepare and lodge all statutory returns, including BAS, IAS and Payroll
  • Tax
  • Month and year-end journal entries and the preparation of month-end and year-end management accounts
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Administer our billing system
  • Follow-up and collection of outstanding customer invoices
  • Maintain the asset register
  • Assist with ad-hoc commercial projects and financial analysis

What you'll have

  • Accounting/Finance degree and/or qualification
  • Minimum 2-3 years of previous accounting and finance experience
  • Solid experience with Xero
  • Intermediate to advanced in excel and intermediate capability across Word and Powerpoint, as well as across the full Google Suite of products
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple finance projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail
  • Previous experience across commercial technology platforms, with an emphasis on automation tools and billing systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Not required, but a plus

  • You have worked previously with a scaling technology company
  • Experience with Zuora Billing System (added bonus)
